A sources-and-versions detective pack for ages 8–12 about the Greek myths: sort evidence cards into History and Literature, match story details to the writers who tell them, spot where two versions of a myth differ, build a timeline, open two case files (jar or box? and was there a Minotaur?), then finish with a quiz, a certificate and answer keys.

What’s inside:

- Detective briefing: myth, literature or history?

- Mission 1: 16 evidence cards and a History and Literature sorting mat

- Mission 2: who wrote it? (eight story details to match to Hesiod, Homer, the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, Apollodorus, Ovid or Hawthorne)

- Mission 3: spot the difference (four myths told two ways)

- Mission 4: 12 timeline cards and a timeline mat

- Mission 5: two case files, jar or box? and was there a Minotaur?

- Mission 6: the detective quiz (10 questions)

- Myth Detective certificate

- Answer keys (2 pages)

- Credits, licence and sources

Pages: 17 (including cover and credits). Sizes: A4 (210 × 297 mm) and US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), both PDFs included in one zip.

Printing: Print at 100% / actual size on A4 or US Letter. Inside pages use light backgrounds and print well in black and white; covers are dark, so start from page 2 to save ink.

Every statement is labelled History (what historians, archaeologists, museums and reference works say) or Literature (what a named poem, play or book says), and checked against named sources: the ancient texts of Hesiod, Homer, the Homeric Hymns, Apollodorus and Ovid in public-domain English translations on the Theoi Project and the Perseus Digital Library (cited by book and line), Hawthorne’s A Wonder Book, the British Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Britannica and Manx National Heritage (checked 30 Oct 2026). Where versions of a myth differ, we say so and name each source. The sources are listed on each pack’s credits page. The myths are retold in our own words; the pictures are public domain drawings, prints and museum photos. Puzzles, games and layouts are REALLYBYTE’s own work. Not endorsed by any of these organisations, and not connected with any film, book series, game or toy.
