Locked in the Dinosaur Hall after closing time! This printable escape room game has five puzzles, eight museum fact cards and a code to crack before the cleaners arrive in the morning. Every dinosaur fact in the game is real, taken from the Natural History Museum’s Dino Directory.

How it works:

- Print the game, cut out the fact cards and put each puzzle in its own envelope (about 10 minutes)

- Players read the fact cards to solve each puzzle. Each answer opens a lock on the lock board, and the game master hands over the next envelope

- Puzzle 5 leads to the code for the exit door

The five puzzles:

1. The Name Game: match each dinosaur to what its name means

2. The Time Tunnel: put five dinosaurs in order of when they lived

3. The Exhibit Count: count the plant-eaters, the finds from England and the horns

4. The Giant Weighing Machine: how many Velociraptors weigh the same as a Tyrannosaurus?

5. The Fossil Code: decode a message written in fossil symbols

The eight fact cards: Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Diplodocus, Velociraptor, Iguanodon, Baryonyx and Coelophysis. Each card gives the name meaning, how to say it, type, length, weight (where known), what it ate, when it lived, where it was found, who named it, and a “Did you know?” fact.

Also included: game master guide, mission briefing to read aloud, lock board, 10 hint cards, an escape certificate and an answer key.

Suggested ages 7 to 12, for 1 to 6 players per copy. It takes about 45 to 60 minutes to play. Great for a dinosaur party, a rainy afternoon or a classroom.

Files: one zip with the A4 PDF (15 pages), the US Letter PDF and a read-me.

Printing: print at 100% / actual size. Colour looks best, but everything works in black and white.

Where the facts come from: the Natural History Museum’s Dino Directory (nhm.ac.uk), checked 3 November 2026, with every page listed on the credits page. The museum in the story and its curator are made up. Not endorsed by the Natural History Museum.

The story, puzzles, drawings and layouts are REALLYBYTE’s own work.
