Saturn Rings Explorer Pack
A fact-checked Saturn rings pack for ages 8–12: work out ring widths from NASA’s ring distances, draw the rings to scale with a compass, put them in order, find the Cassini Division, see why the rings turn edge-on, explore spokes and propellers, then design your own ring.
What’s inside:
- Meet the rings: chunks of ice and rock, with a Cassini photo
- How wide is each ring? Work out ring widths from NASA’s ring distances
- The rings to scale: draw them with a compass at 1 mm = 1,600 km (with a 50 mm check bar)
- Line up the rings, and find the Cassini Division
- The vanishing rings: why they turn edge-on, with a Hubble photo
- Spokes, propellers and a gap: close-up finds from Voyager and Cassini
- Design your own ring

Pages: 10 (including cover and credits). Sizes: A4 (210 × 297 mm) and US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), both PDFs included in one zip.
Printing: Print at 100% / actual size on A4 or US Letter. Inside pages use light backgrounds and print well in black and white; covers are dark, so start from page 2 to save ink.
Every fact is checked against NASA, JPL and ESA web pages (checked 27 Oct 2026) and the sources are listed on each pack’s credits page. Facts that can change, such as Saturn’s moon count (NASA pages currently disagree: 293 or 274; where a pack gives the count, both figures are shown), mission plans such as Dragonfly, and new findings such as the question of Titan’s ocean, are true as of that date. Pictures are public-domain NASA, ESA and JPL images from Wikimedia Commons; artist’s impressions are labelled as such, and drawings, puzzles and layouts are REALLYBYTE’s own work. Not endorsed by NASA, ESA or JPL.
